Most counselors at camp are specifically hired to work in one of our program areas. Because our program has a strong emphasis on instruction, it is critical that our staff be comfortable teaching and/or assisting in one of the program areas listed below. Of course, it should also be an activity that you would love to share with others.
Camp Wayne has an outstanding athletic program. We pride ourselves on the quality of instruction that our campers receive in an environment that is focused on learning as opposed to just winning. While the athletic facilities at Wayne are top-notch, it’s our staff who teach and coach day in and day out that make our athletic program so special for our campers. Counselors work under the direction of their Activity Director and Athletic Director. Athletic activities include: baseball, basketball, conditioning, football, martial arts, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, team handball, and tennis.
With a private 95-acre spring fed lake and heated swimming pool, the aquatics program has the perfect facilities for instructing our campers in a variety of exciting activities. Aquatic activities include: canoeing, kayaking, swimming, sailing, water-skiing and wakeboarding. Recreational activities at the waterfront include: water polo, water basketball, water trampoline, waterslide, tubing and banana boating.
The Arts & Crafts program at Wayne encourages creativity and skill building. Campers have the opportunity to take on arts projects in drawing, painting, lanyards, beadwork, woodworking, rocketry, cooking, and ceramics.
At the Stockport Road Studio, campers can learn guitar, drums and keyboard and put those skills to use at the Camper Talent Show and Battle of the Bands.
The co-ed Drama Program produces three shows during the summer. The entire camp gets together at the Camp Wayne Playhouse at Camp Wayne for Girls to see their friends on stage.
Developing teamwork, communication skills and an appreciation for the outdoors are important goals in our Adventure Program. Activities include: high ropes course, low ropes course, zip lines, climbing tower, archery, mountain biking, nature, hiking, fishing, and overnight camping.
