Camp Parent 101
Medications at Camp
All medications that your child needs, excluding Accutane and injectibles such as insulin, epipens and growth hormone, will be packaged by kidsMEDPACKS' licensed pharmacy and shipped to camp before your camper arrives. kidsMEDPACKS is a pre-packaged medication system founded by a board certified, practicing pediatrician. This program ensures that our nurses dispense the proper medications at the correct time of day, and that all medications are received at camp prior to your child's arrival allowing us time to organize and prepare for their medication needs. With so many campers taking medication during the camp season, we are confident that this is the safest, most reliable and efficient way to dispense camper medications.
Camp Wayne requires that all prescription pill medication taken on a daily basis be dispensed by kidsMEDPACKS. Campers who will be taking prescription pill medication on a daily basis must be registered with kidsMEDPACKS.
KIDSMEDPACKS will fill:
- Prescription medications in pill form (daily or "as needed")
- Prescription medications in liquid form (daily or "as needed")
- Prescription inhalers, ointments, nose sprays and eye drops
- OTC items such as vitamins and nutritional supplements and allergy medications (daily or "as needed")
Medications in pill form will be packaged so that all medications taken at a given time are in one packet. The packets are labeled and placed on a dispensing roll in chronological order to ensure that every camper receives the correct medication at the correct time of day. These secure packets are also portable for day and overnight trips. Medications not in pill form will be packaged appropriately. Our Infirmary will continue to stock typical over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol and Benadryl.
