Camp Parent 101
Medications at Camp
If your camper will be taking prescription medication in pill form during the summer, you must register for our Pre-Packaged Prescription Medication program. Our direct provider, White’s Healthcare Enterprise, Camp Medicine by the Dose Program, in full compliance with State and Federal law will dispense your child’s medication(s) in pill form on a daily or as needed basis. All the pills your child takes will be dispensed by White’s and packaged, sealed and sorted according to Day and Time of administration. Each individually sealed packet will be labeled with your child’s name, medicine, dosage, date and time to be given. This method of dispensing medication during the summer insures that every camper receives the correct medication and the correct dosage at the right time on the right day.
Please note that you are not required to have White’s fill the following:
- medications that are not in pill form (i.e. liquids and inhalers)
- non-prescription medications
- vitamins
However, since they are Pharmacy Direct and do not charge any administration fees (see fee section below), we strongly suggest that you use White’s for the items listed above. Their packaging and dispensing program for all medications is designed just for camp and fits seamlessly into our Health Center procedures. All medication will be shipped to camp prior to your child’s arrival. All unused medication will be sent home by camp.
Upon receipt of your child’s prescription, White’s Camp Care Medicine By the Dose representative will verify said prescription with you, the parent / guardian, as well as your child’s prescribing physician. We are confident that this program will help us achieve our primary goal, the health, well-being, and safety of your child.
