Food & Nutrition
All campers eat together, by bunk with their counselors, in our bright, air-conditioned dining room overlooking the lake. Our Registered Dietician makes the necessary adjustments for food allergies and helps to make sure each child consumes a diet that is adequate, balanced and varied.
Camp Wayne provides a menu of healthful and delicious meals. Our chef creates kid-friendly favorites out of wholesome foods, with many meals made from scratch. And our Directors have a flair for the grill at our popular weekly barbecues.
A typical energizing breakfast includes choice of hot or cold cereals, milk, hot chocolate and juice, and a hot entree such as pancakes, waffles, eggs or french toast. On specialty days (two days a week) we start our day with fresh baked bagels and lox... with a schmear of course.
Lunches and dinners include items like homemade soup with grilled cheese, barbecued chicken and ribs, brisket, roast turkey, spaghetti with meatballs, teriyaki chicken, sliced steak with curly fries and chicken nuggets. Desserts are provided at two meals, but one is always a fruit. Fresh roasted turkey, cold cuts, cheese, pasta and salad bar, as well as vegetarian options, are always available as an alternative. And don't forget our amazing Italian, Mexican and Chinese nights! To encourage healthy hydration levels, ice water and energy drinks are available at each table. Electric water fountains are available throughout the camp and a refreshing snack is given each afternoon. Fruit is always available.
